Chanticleer Fall To #6 Kennesaw State

The Coastal Carolina Men's Club Lacrosse team took the field against the MCLA Division II preseason number 6 team Kennesaw State University Sunday afternoon. The Chants fought hard through the full 60 minutes but came up just a little short falling 12-5 to a very balanced KSU Owl lacrosse team.

Sophomore Attackman, Nick Aquino, set the tempo offensively netting a 3 goal hat trick, the first of his season. Freshman Attackman Nick Maldari, picked up right where he left off the day before at Emory with 2 more points (1 goal, 1 assist) against the Owls. Maldari's classmate Mike Hilland also recorded an assist while also going 2 for 7 at the face off. Junior Nate Ryan kept his point streak alive by recording the Chanticleers first goal on the day. Sophomore Matt Peters handled the majority of the face off's during the game, finishing 9-15 (60%).

The defense was anchored again by Senior Goalkeeper August Schoenfelder who stopped 14 shots on the day. Senior Long Stick Midfielder Sam Wheatley and Sophomore Zach Lytle tied for the team high 5 ground balls during the contest.

The Chanticleers look to rebound from this loss as the open Regional play this Sunday, February 12th, when they travel to The Citadel in Charleston SC. Face off is set for 2 pm at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
